         When it comes to Universal Joints, the Spicer 1350 series has become the standard for virtually all drag racing and NASCAR applications.  That said, given the tremendous shock loads generated by more powerful engines, the "stock" u-joints are subject to breakage.  To provide racers with the required upgrades, MW developed a series of transmission and differential yokes that utilize 1350 series joints. MW has also developed transmission and differential yokes for use with 1480 series universal joints to suite heavier-duty Pro Mod and similar applications.

         Attaching U-joints to the pinion yoke typically involves using a Spicer 1350-series U-bolt kit, but recently MW's engineering team developed a nifty billet steel cap assembly.  Through encapsulating the U-joint cap, it keeps it more securely attached to the differential companion flange —which significantly improves overall driveline reliability, especially when it's subject to load cycling.  They can be retrofitted to any current style MW pinion yoke. As similar cap is available for our 1480 series pinion yokes.

         On the transmission side, Mark Williams manufactures yokes from 4340 alloy steel forgings, which are CNC machined and heat treated to 200,000 PSI tensile strength.  Optimum performance is assured by machining the splines and U-joint centerlines perfectly concentric to the spline pitch diameter.  Additionally, yokes are available for use with transmissions employing roller bearing tailhousings.  These have hardened shafts, and precision-ground o.d. compatible with Liberty, Jerico and G-force boxes, as well as needle bearing-equipped Dedenbear type tailhousings for Powerglides.

         MW also offers a "Rapid Release"series of yokes that feature removable steel caps that can be used when space limitations prevent installations with traditional yokes.  The cap design also does an excellent job of securing the U-joint cups.

         Pinion yokes are available in steel, aluminum or titanium, with the more exotic materials reducing the overall (and rotating) weight of the driveshaft assembly.


         In the "How To Order"section you will see which measurements are required in order to make a driveshaft that is the correct length.  Please be aware that a certain amount of clearance (approximately 3/4") is required for each shaft to allow for suspension movement, chassis flex, etc.
